Why Campos?

We hurried Sunday morning to meet the 6 kids that my husband and Tiloh had played baseball with the Sunday prior. We took a ferry boat to Isla de La Piedra Spanish for Stone Island. As we walked in to the field we heard, “they are here they are here!” We found 16 kids that had gathered to play baseball with the gringos (how they refer to Americans). This went on every Sunday.

Our family was in Mazatlan for a mission school and although our time there was devoted to the school , God was stirring our hearts for something we didn’t even understand yet. I remember being reminded in my soul to go back through records I had of prayers prayed over us. I brushed it off. My husband went to the field on the island one day to meet a potential trainer that could work with the kids since we had commitments all week. When he returned he shared that while he and Esteban sat on the field concrete bleachers, he asked God, “Is this you? Are you calling us to something here?” He looked out to the field and it was no longer dry, he was seeing a vision! The field was green, there were families walking around and enjoying time together! He left the field full of faith and knowing his question had been answered.

A couple mornings later, while Tiloh and I waited to start playing baseball with the kids he says to me, “Mom, I had a dream last night, I dreamed that the field was green.” I remembered Francisco’s vision and just took a deep breath. I also decided to listen and took some time alone and go back through the prayers in my records. Both mentioned “a field” and I sat there in shock, I cried as I realized what was happening.

It seemed that overnight God deposited His dream in us and made it our dream. We were quickly talking about starting something that would spread God’s love through baseball….that’s about how much we had but that was enough…we were in!
